April Events!
Blossom Festival
Last year, we held CalArts Matsuri to raise funds for the ensemble. It was the beginning of our journey as an independent ensemble. The event was very successful, and we loved what we did so much. It was an authentic interdisciplinary presentation of who we are, and we realized the amount of support out there in the community, for which we are very grateful.
We are doing it again this year! We changed the event name to Blossom Festival since it's not just us Japanese ensemble, but also multiple Asian groups are joining us this time. To truly represent this multicultural event, we decided not to use Japanese words or any word from a specific Asian language to include everyone!
You can enjoy various Asian foods, live performances, and try a kimono (and purchase if you like!). We'll be of course performing there! :) We are also hosting a cosplay contest, so please show up with your best cosplay costume! Or just come and enjoy!
Date: Thursday, April 24th, 2025, 3:00pm - 7:00pm

Akiko Fujimoto Concert
This is a super rare opportunity. The Jiuta (時歌) shamisen master, FUJIMOTO, Akiko is having a concert in LA! She has learned the shamisen from her mother, who is now a Living National Treasure in Japan. Fujimoto sensei has won multiple awards in Japan including one from the Emperor of Japan and one from the Japanese government. As a co-sponsor, LA Artcore has kindly offered space for this very special concert.
The seats are limited, so please register at https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/akiko-fujimoto-workshopconcert
Proceeding the concert, a workshop is held for shamisen learners. If you have a shamisen, please bring it with you. Again please register using the link above.
